    State of South Dakota Department of Insurance Requirements
  • Licensees are required to complete 10 hours of continuing education for each line of insurance license held, not to exceed 20 hours, every 2 years.
  • New licensees receiving a license after September 30 of an even-numbered year but before October 1 of an odd-numbered year must complete by April 1 of the NEXT even-numbered year at least half of the required c.e. hours.
  • New licensees receiving a license after September 30 of an odd-numbered year shall have their requirements waived until April 1 of the following year.
  • Licensees must complete c.e. credits by April 30 of even numbered years.
  • Exams are non monitored.
  • Excess credit hours may not be carried forward.
  • Courses are repeatable every 2 years.
  • Beginning May 1,2007, course provider is responsible for submitting credit hour completions (rosters) to Sircon.com for the state of South Dakota.
  • Failure to comply results in a $20 reinstatement fee.
